It’s this mission that motivated Tom Neff, Sales Consultant at Baylis, to change the course of his 20-year hospital administration career and brief stint in medical equipment sales, to pursue a sales opportunity at Baylis.
For Tom, it was the immediate sense of connectedness he experienced with the team, during his very first interview at Baylis.
“The enthusiasm for their work was contagious,” recalled Tom. “I knew it was a company that I wanted to be a part of, and I was motivated to put all of my energy into this opportunity.”
The enthusiasm at Baylis is something that has become even more apparent to Tom over the last year-and-a-half he has spent on the US Sales team.
“It’s incredible that this early into my Baylis career, I’ve had the opportunity to have one-on-one time with Kris Shah [President of Baylis], Frank Baylis [Executive Chairman of Baylis] and Thomas Chavez [Vice President of Cardiology Sales at Baylis],” said Tom. “It’s these kinds of interactions that make you feel like you are part of a family; everyone will do anything for you to succeed. Baylis is truly a company with soul.”
In his current role, Tom supports physicians across West Texas and New Mexico, visiting hospitals across the territory.
He demonstrates the value of Baylis’ devices with the use of advanced simulators that mimic realistic left-heart interventions, and ensures devices are used correctly to help facilitate smooth procedures for physicians and their patients.
When asked about his favourite part of his job, Tom is quick to say it’s “playing a role in helping improve patient lives.”
“The receptiveness and openness I have experienced from physicians and their staff is by far the most rewarding part for me,” said Tom. “When they see how excited I am about the devices, they feel that excitement too. They truly see the value of Baylis devices in helping their patients.”
Tom has developed his skills and advanced in his career at Baylis with the support of mentors across the organization. Initially hired as a Clinical Associate, he was then promoted to a Clinical Specialist, before progressing to his current role.
“The number of promotions we see within the company speaks volumes and is a true testament to Baylis’ culture of employee development,” said Tom. “I’ve never experienced anything like this before in my career; everyone at Baylis truly wants you to improve and develop in your role.”
“The passion Tom has for our devices and his enthusiasm for continued learning and development is what has driven his success at Baylis,” said his manager Will Miller, Regional Sales Manager at Baylis. “I’m proud to have him on my team and look forward to continuing to work together to help physicians and their patients.”
Tom’s only regret is that he didn’t find his job at Baylis sooner.
“I tell my colleagues all the time how lucky I am to work at Baylis; this is a once in a lifetime kind of job, and at the end of the day, I feel like I’m making a difference – it’s a great feeling.”
