Get to know Sharlini Ganeshamoorthy, part of our Sterility Assurance team!

Question: When did you join Baylis?
Answer: I joined in May 2013—it has nearly been six years!

Q: Where did you work and what was your role prior to joining Baylis?
A: Before Baylis I had spent two years gaining experience with manufacturing companies in various roles within the quality department. I feel that working in the quality department gives you a good perspective of the entire business – what we do and why we do it. I’ve experienced it in both my co-op terms and here at Baylis.

Q: What is your day-to-day role at Baylis?
A: The mission of the sterility assurance department is to provide sterile products to physicians for subsequent use on patients. We ensure our packaging maintains its integrity until the point of use. We work with various departments on a daily basis to help ensure all new and existing products meet and exceed medical device industry requirements. We especially work with our production areas and packaging lines to adhere to the high level of quality of our devices and packaging. My team and I strive to continuously meet sterilization and packaging compliance requirements and business needs.

Q: What is it about Baylis and its mandate that motivates you to come to work every day?
A: It is definitely a combination of the people and the Baylis mission. It is amazing coming to work with people you consider friends and many talented people every day, and experiencing how well we come together to face challenges and find solutions. At the end of the day we all have the same goal in mind, which is to help improve lives by advancing patient care. It is amazing being a part of this cause. We really are better together!

Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: When I’m not at work, I spend time playing volleyball and hanging out with my Baylis family. Most of my spare time is spent catching up with friends and family. I also read self-development books and watch Netflix during my me-time.

Speed round:

Favourite colour?
Black (which is arguably not a colour) and Pantone 2384 (Baylis blue).

Favourite snack? Cheese. All types of cheese.

If you could, in which store would you max out you credit card? HomeSense.

What’s the last show you binge-watched? Dirty John. It’s only eight episodes long—my perfect kind of binge.

What is/would be your go-to karaoke song? I have a selection of go-to Tamil karaoke songs.

If you could go back in time to witness one event in the past, what would it be? It wouldn’t be an event in the past, it would be an event in the future. I would want to see what technology exists 20 years from now.

Favourite place in the world? There’s a few, but if I had to pick, it would be North Vancouver. I love the fresh air and mountains.

Who inspires you? My parents. And in the spirit of International Women’s Day this month (March), the women of the Operations Leadership Team. They are all such talented, strong and brilliant women who have been an inspiration to me throughout my years at Baylis and have taught me so much.

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had? Basically all my meals in Portugal. It must be all the garlic shrimp and pasteis de nata (Portuguese custard tarts).

Secret talent no one knows about? I write poetry. I guess it’s not a secret anymore!
